What it is
Amazon Q Developer absorbed CodeWhisperer and offers chat, code transformation and agentic help in IDEs. The free tier includes 50 agentic chat interactions and 1,000 lines of code transformation per month. AWS says it will end support for Amazon Q Developer IDE plugins on April 30, 2027 and points users to Kiro.
Heads up: CodeWhisperer was folded into Amazon Q Developer. AWS plans to end the IDE plugins on April 30, 2027 and recommends Kiro.
