App of the Week

Gamma

AI tool that creates presentations, documents and simple websites from a prompt.

Visit site

Gamma is an AI design tool that turns a prompt, a document or a pile of notes into a finished presentation, document, website or social post. It is one of the quickest ways to get from "I need a deck by 3pm" to something you are not embarrassed to share. If your company lives inside strict PowerPoint templates or needs pixel-level design control, it will frustrate you.

Each week we pick one tool from the AI App Hunters directory, look at what it actually does, and tell you who should buy it and who should skip it.

Key takeaways

  • Gamma generates decks, docs, hosted websites, social content and graphics from one prompt, and exports to PPT, PDF, PNG and Google Slides.
  • Everything AI runs on credits. Plus gets 1,000 a month, Pro 4,000 and Ultra 20,000, per Gamma's help center.
  • Business is $40 per member per month billed annually as of October 2026, with SSO and 6,000 credits per member.
  • The API sits on Pro and above, and Gamma connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Slack, Zapier, Make and n8n.
  • Best for consultants, founders, sales and marketing teams who make a lot of first drafts. Skip it if brand templates are non-negotiable.

What is Gamma?

Gamma calls itself "your all-in-one AI-powered design partner", with "no code or design experience needed." You describe what you want, or import a PDF or PPTX, and it builds the structure, writes the copy, picks layouts and adds images.

It covers more formats than most presentation tools:

  • Presentations that export to PPT, PDF and more
  • Documents, "from one-pagers to white papers"
  • Websites that are hosted and shareable, with custom domains on paid plans
  • Social media posts, "sized, styled, and ready to post"
  • Graphics, from infographics to illustrations

Gamma says it uses "20+ AI models", supports 60+ languages and has "100+ million users". Customers named on its homepage include Amazon, Adobe, Vercel, Zoom and Stanford University. Find it at gamma.app.

Who is Gamma for?

Gamma fits people who produce a lot of communication and care more about speed than layout control:

  • Consultants and agencies turning research into client-ready decks.
  • Founders writing pitch decks, investor updates and one-page sites.
  • Sales teams building tailored proposals for each prospect.
  • Marketers who need social graphics and landing pages without waiting on design.
  • Ops and enablement teams turning docs into training material.

It is less of a fit for teams whose decks must match a locked corporate master template, or for designers who want to move every element by hand.

What are Gamma's standout features?

Generation that starts from your content

The core trick is Create with AI: a prompt or an imported file becomes a full gamma in a minute or two. Free accounts cap this at 10 slides per prompt, Plus raises it to 100. Pasting in your own notes or a PDF usually gives better results than a bare prompt, because the content is yours and Gamma only handles structure and design.

Agent and AI editing

Once a draft exists, you keep editing with AI. Gamma's credit docs list "editing with Agent, adding cards with AI, and trying new layouts" as AI actions. This is where most of the time savings live: rewriting a section for a different audience or switching layouts takes a sentence, not ten minutes of dragging boxes.

API and templates

The Gamma API has two main endpoints. Generate creates from scratch, with control over format, tone, audience and images. The template endpoint adapts an existing gamma: swap content, retarget the audience or replace images. That second one is the interesting one for sales teams. Build one strong proposal, then generate a tailored version per account from CRM data.

Connectors

Gamma lists connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Slack, Superhuman Go and Atlassian Rovo, none of which need an API key. Zapier, Make and n8n workflows use the API. The docs also describe building a custom MCP integration on top of the REST API.

How much does Gamma cost?

Gamma's pricing page lists Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra, and its help center covers Business and Enterprise. Gamma's public pricing page did not show per-plan dollar amounts when we checked, so confirm Plus, Pro and Ultra prices at checkout. The table below uses what Gamma publishes, as of October 2026.

Plan Price Monthly credits Notable features
Free $0 Starter credits, no monthly refill 10 slides per prompt, PDF and PPTX import, exports
Plus See pricing page 1,000 100 slides per prompt, no Gamma branding, advanced image models
Pro See pricing page 4,000 Premium image models, custom branding, analytics, up to 10 custom domains, API
Ultra See pricing page, monthly only for now 20,000 Most advanced text, image and video models, up to 100 custom domains
Business $40 per member per month, billed annually 6,000 per member SSO, locked training opt-out, all image models, 100 custom domains
Enterprise Custom Custom allocation SCIM, audit logs with SIEM, admin sharing controls, invoiced billing

A few billing details matter. All paid plans are billed per active member, and removing someone does not cut your bill until you reduce the seat count. Gamma says annual plans carry a 28% discount versus monthly. Unused credits roll over up to double your plan's monthly amount.

What are Gamma's limitations, and who should skip it?

  • Credits are the real price. Generation is metered per slide and per image. The API docs put a 10-card deck with 5 images at roughly 20 to 60 credits, and image-heavy work with top-tier models costs far more. Heavy users on Plus will notice.
  • Free credits do not refill. The Free plan is a trial in practice, not a working tier.
  • Brand control costs extra. Custom branding starts on Pro. On Free you keep Gamma's badge.
  • Security features sit high up. SSO starts on Business, and SCIM and audit logs need Enterprise.
  • It is Gamma's format first. You can export to PPTX and Google Slides, but the native experience is a gamma. Teams that do final edits in PowerPoint should test a round trip before they commit.

Skip Gamma if every deck must sit on a locked master template, if a design team owns layout, or if you only make two decks a year.

What are the best Gamma alternatives?

Tool Best for Starting paid price (as of October 2026)
Gamma Fast AI drafts across decks, docs, sites and social Free plan, Business at $40 per member per month (annual)
Beautiful.ai Smart slide templates that keep layouts tidy Pro at $14.50 per month billed annually
Pitch Collaborative presentation workspace for teams Free, Plus from €10 per month on annual billing
Canva All-round design with presentations included Free, Pro at $144 per year for one person

Beautiful.ai is the closest like-for-like option for decks. Its Team plan is $40 per user per month on annual billing, for 2 to 20 users.

Pitch suits teams that build decks together and care about workflow as much as generation.

Canva makes sense if you already pay for it for social and brand assets and only need presentations occasionally.

Bottom line: is Gamma worth it?

Yes, if you make a lot of first drafts. Gamma is one of the quickest tools in the directory for turning raw material into something presentable, and the API plus template endpoint makes it a real option for automated proposals and reports, not just one-off decks.

Start on Free with one real deck you need this week. If it saves you an hour, Plus is the obvious next step for an individual. Teams that want the API should look at Pro. Companies that need SSO should go straight to Business and model credit use per member before rolling it out.
